Yes a weird one Peadar, and I take it you have not seen one before. The big debate is "What causes them"? and the general consensus is that it is a genetic mutation. Normally they do not live that long, usually 3 to 6 months but some have lived longed. I was reading recently of one that lived until it was 14 months. But this bird was not a true Duster as it was a Half sider, ie one side fine and the other a duster. It seems , with the Dusters that the metabolic rate is really high thus producing more and more feather, but also burning the bird out, thus the early death.
