Éire B.S A.G.M. & Nest Feather Show
The Éire B.S held their A.G.M & Nest feather show on Sunday the 20th of January 2013. The venue was the comfortable ?Berkley room? in Bewleys Hotel, Newlandscross, Dublin.
Considering the inclement weather, it was by far the best attended A.G.M since 2008. Showing their dedication to the Club, some of the members travelled over 150 miles each way, to attend the meeting.
The outgoing committee, had a number of proposals to put to the membership, and all items on the agenda were met with unanimous approval by those in attendance.
Top of the list was the new venue for the Society?s Young Stock Show. As it is a core principle of the Society, to bring its shows around the country in order to promote the hobby, the selection of the beautiful Enniscorthy Castle in the south east, was met with overwhelming approval. The show will take place on June the 9th and the judge for the event will be Ian Fielding, who will be accompanied by his wife Pat.
The membership also approved a proposal to move the annual renewal date from the 1st of November to the 1st of October in any year. This is to reflect the society?s ring issue date of the 1st of November. The membership also approved a proposal by Michael Comerford, to dispense with ?Perpetual Trophies?, as awards. Michael pointed out that many of these trophies are now considered as ?Dust Collectors? by exhibitors, and some expensive trophies in recent years have not, unfortunately been returned to the society. The new committee will now, over the next two shows, offer these trophies to be won outright.
Outgoing Chairman and Treasurer, Brian Flynn, presented a very healthy set of accounts, which as he said in his address, was, ?due in no small way from the efforts, sponsorship and frugality of the outgoing committee?, and he urged the incoming committee not to be complacent with the society?s finances.
The following officers were elected:
Secretary: Barry Fletcher. Chairperson & Treasurer: Noel Carton
Vice Chairperson: Noel Lee: Committee Members: Gerard Lawless, & Brian McCabe
In conjunction with the AGM, the society held its first show of the year, a Nest Feather Show. This show was judged by Champion breeder Mr James Sidney from Co Wexford. Results as follows:
Best Barhead in Show: Gerard Lanigan.
Intermediate Barhead Winners: 1st Gerard Lanigan, 2nd Gerard Lanigan, 3rd A&M Comerford.
Novice Barhead Winners: 1st Ron Thompson, 2nd Ron Thompson, 3rd Noel Carton
Beginner Barhead Winners: 1st Liam Farrington, 2nd Gerard Lawless, 3rd Gerard Lawless.
Best Junior Barhead: Aoife Thompson.
The committee would like to thank Mr James Sidney for placing the awards.
Next up for the Éire B.S, will be their member?s show, on Sunday the 9th of June, where the emphasis will be on young stock.
